Hillsboro native comes home to practice medicine

Newton Medical Center welcomes Gayla J. Herbel, M.D., endocrinologist, who has established a private practice in endocrinology in suite 230 of the Newton Surgery Center, 800 Medical Center Drive.
A native of Hillsboro, Kan., Herbel returned home to rejoin her friends and family members in the area. She brings a wide-spectrum of experience to NMC, having practiced as a paramedic and a registered nurse before attending medical school, and subsequently practicing as both an endocrinologist in private practice and most recently as a hospitalist in Denver, Colorado.

Endocrinologists treat a variety of endocrine conditions ranging from diabetes to problems with pituitary, thyroid, parathryroid, adrenals, ovaries, testes and pregnancy-related endocrine problems.

Herbel cares for adults and adolescents generally over the age of 18, although she will accept younger patients on a case-by-case basis when appropriate. She is one of the endocrinologists practicing in Kansas who uses the insulin pump in both acute and ambulatory care.

Newton Medical Center welcomes Kevin Paul Allen, M.D., ophthalmologist (eye - specialist) to its active medical staff. Dr. Allen provides a variety of diagnostic and surgical procedures related to eye disease. He is the first eye surgeon based in Newton in the more than a decade.

 
 
Newton Medical Center welcomes Susan Lovelle, M.D., FACS, plastic surgeon, to its active medical staff. Dr. Lovelle will provide a variety of aesthetic and reconstructive surgical procedures including breast enlargement and reconstruction and surgery related to skin cancer.
