Hesston Emergency Services receives $5,000 grant to purchase life-saving equipment

Newton Medical Center donated $5,000 to Hesston Emergency Services to help purchase new life-saving equipment
The donation was presented during the February Hesston Chamber of Commerce meeting at Hesston’s Water’s Edge Restaurant.

Russ Buller, director of Hesston Emergency Services, received the donation from Jeff Barton, Newton Medical Center’s vice president of patient services.

“This $5,000 donation represents an investment of about $1 for each of the nearly 5,000 people living within the Hesston Emergency Services primary service area,” Barton said.

Hesston Emergency Services hopes to purchase two new Zoll “E” series EKG Monitor/Defibrillators and two new Zoll Auto Pulse cardiac support pumps.

According to Chief Buller, a total of $55,000 is needed to complete the purchase by July 1.

“With this equipment in both of our ambulances, Hesston Emergency Services could give better care to patients that are experiencing anything from chest pain to full-blown cardiac arrest,” Buller stated in his request letter to Newton Medical Center.
