Newton Medical Center Community Association donates funds for equipment

The Newton Medical Center Community Association recently donated more than $24,000 worth of patient-care equipment and patient education literature.

The following items from the medical center’s "wish list will be purchased:

• A microscope for the lab ($7,500)
• Sit-to-Stand lift device for nursing departments ($4,000)
• Bladder scanner for nursing departments ($11,500)
• Cancer prevention education materials ($1,000)
• A motorized wheelchair/scooter for use between the Medical Office Plaza and the medical center ($1,500 to $2,000)

The Newton Medical Center Community Association consistently contributes financial support for hospital equipment and programs through gift shop sales, fund raisers and personal donations.

The organization also offers $1,000 scholarships to NMC employees.

Newton Medical Center welcomes Gayla J. Herbel, M.D., endocrinologist, who has established a private practice in endocrinology in suite 230 of the Newton Surgery Center, 800 Medical Center Drive.
