No increase for 2007 Health Fair blood test fee
The 25th annual Harvey County Community Health Fair will take place Oct. 26 and 27 at the Newton Activities Center, 415 North Poplar, in Newton, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 26 and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27.

The Harvey County Health Department will offer influenza and pneumonia vaccines at the Health Fair.
A variety of low-cost or no-cost health screens continue to be the heart of this annual community Health Fair. All services are offered on a walk-in basis – no appointments are necessary.
Newton Medical Center offers a $12 blood chemistry profile, including a cholesterol check.
Axtell Clinic and NMC offer males a PSA blood test and prostate screening for $8.
Participants should fast after nine to 12 hours for these blood tests. To help “break” that fast healthfully, Prairie Harvest will once again cater an on-site cash breakfast.
Central Care Cancer Center also will offer $4 take-home kits to screen for signs of colorectal cancer.
The Newton Lions Club has its organization’s state mobile vision and audio screening unit on location. There is no charge for the vision or hearing screen.
Central Homecare provides free blood pressure checks.
The Newton Wellness Center offers body composition and BMI analysis. Participants should wear appropriate clothing that allows staff to access the middle upper arm.
Several other Newton Medical Center departments will offer activities and information, and a variety of local health care service agencies and groups will have displays to help people gain and retain good health habits.
