Physicians are now performing procedures at Newton Medical Center’s newest edition, the ambulatory surgical center, located on the first floor of the new Newton Surgery Center facility at 800 Medical Center Drive, (316) 804-6161.

Axtell Orthopedics, formerly at 215 South Pine, has moved into the Newton Surgery Center building’s second floor. This relocates the practices of Drs. Charles Craig and James Rochelle. The phone number to schedule appointments remains (316) 283-9977.

The Kansas Foot Center, new to Newton, is now seeing patients on the Newton Surgery Center building’s second floor. The Center is owned by Tom Truong, DPM. The phone number to schedule appointments is (316) 283-4330.

Newton Medical Center’s outpatient rehabilitation is now treating patients on the second floor of 800 Medical Center Drive. This relocation combines physical, occupational and speech therapy in one convenient area. The rehabilitation phone number, (316) 804-6080, remains unchanged, but the new fax number is (316) 804-6149.

The medical center’s information services department moved into the new building’s lower level in July. This relocation allows all of the department’s staff to be centered in one location and provides for a spacious training area.

The third floor of the 75,000 square-foot facility remains unfinished, awaiting occupancy by physicians or health-related businesses.

A covered entrance on the building’s south side provides protection from the weather. Convenient parking surrounds the new building. Restricted handicap parking is located on the east side of the facility, and an elevator allows convenient access to the offices and therapy services on the second floor.

Hutton Construction is the general contractor. Wilson Darnell Mann is the architect. Construction on the new 75,000 three-story, $12-million building began in July 2006.
